Financial Controller

Position Title: Financial Controller

Job Location: Libertyville, IL - HYBRID

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Controller to join our dynamic, private equity-backed company as we execute a strategic growth plan. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is responsible for managing accounting operations and ensuring transparent, complete, and accurate financial reporting for key stakeholders, including executive leadership, investors, and lenders. The Controller will oversee day-to-day financial planning, implementation, and control of accounting activities while collaborating with the company's financial analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all finance and accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, technical accounting, tax compliance, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking.
  • Ensure timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations.
  • Lead and develop a team of accountants and finance staff.
  • Strengthen banking relationships to enhance the company’s financial visibility and credibility.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational insights to leadership, enabling informed strategic and operational decisions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive financial performance and optimize business outcomes through data-driven decision-making.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A), integration efforts, and strategic financial projects, including system implementations.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive team to support long-term growth and strategic objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
  • Experience with payroll processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in NetSuite and other financial software preferred.
  • Experience preparing financial packages for management, board members, investors, and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in tax strategy and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive, ownership mindset.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and a collaborative, transparent approach.

Position Type & Hours:

  • Full-time, regular position.
  • Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Weekend and holiday hours will be required based on business needs.

Compensation Range and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000 USD annually. Actual salary may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, Pharma Logistics’ business and organizational needs, as well as an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance.

Pharma Logistics offers medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield). Group life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance. 14 days of paid time off, Hybrid schedule, along with major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day). 401k with 3% company contribution after 1 year of service.
